Goal

Reduce the peak flow rate downstream of the dam, thus contributing to the protection of the territory, taking preventive and measured action on dam discharges.

Solution

Predicting incoming water flows in water basins by applying AI to weather forecasts, which would estimate the occurrence of floods, helping operators to choose the ideal intervention and mitigation procedures.
The system used consists of two elements:

• it employs AI technologies to calculate the inflow curve to a dam (using meteorological and hydraulic real data)
• it provides technicians with a list of manoeuvres (“Operation list”) to reduce the peak flow rate, using the inflow curve
