Let's start with water, the source that helps us expand our potential.

We know it and you know it, too: hydroelectricity is one of the most important renewable energy sources. With no negative impact on the climate, it’s a natural resource in South Tyrol, thanks to its mountainous landscape and its central position in the Alpine region, which make it perfectly suited to use water for the production of clean energy.

Generating green energy in hydroelectric plants allows to avoid producing energy in thermal power stations, thus significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

Environmental plans: responsibility towards nature

We protect nature and the landscape of which we are part, as we are aware that without them, we and our work would not exist.

To us, the environment is a key priority: this is why we are committed to invest €400 million over the next 30 years in activities aimed at the improvement and conservation of the territory in the municipalities concerned.

These environmental plans are a key part of the concessions for large hydroelectric power plants we obtained in 2011.

The goal of our plans? To reduce the impact of hydroelectric production on the environment as much as possible.

Through environmental funds, 43 riparian municipalities have been able to take advantage of ad hoc funding to complete various projects, which include: enhancing the wastewater treatment system, restoring or improving natural environments, implementing energy saving measures, reducing pollution, and preserving the Alpine landscape.

Since 2011, every year Alperia has provided the following amounts:

2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016

Environmental plans, our future.

EMAS registration

EMAS registration is a voluntary environmental certification tool established by the European Union for companies and public bodies to assess, report and improve their environmental performance. The main focus of this tool is the environmental statement in which the organisation explains its processes, their environmental impacts, legal requirements and voluntary standards met, and indicates its improvement programme to zero or minimise its environmental impacts.
As stipulated in the EMAS regulation, the environmental statement is prepared every three years and updated annually.
